Texas

1st of all I didn't take enough pictures and I really regret that :-( This is a picture of the wind turbine farms we kept passing. There was a lot of fog on the way up.

Here is a picture of my family with my parents and grandpa :-)
My girls loved the neighbors dogs. They spent a lot of their time in the back yard at the fence visiting the dogs.

Everyone liked the tree swing.

We found this awesome park. It had workout equipment along the jogging path.

It also had a fun play park. We had so much fun we had to go back the next day :-)

William and Greg went back to the park and played Frisbee golf. It was a little muddy.

How many people does it take to feed Kelsey at the banana? 2 Aunt Judy and Mom.
Needless to say Kelsey was pampered all weekend.

Hair hair hair

When Shelby was little I felt she had so little hair compared to the other girls and couldn't wait until it all came in. She still has hardly any hair and she is 4, it is just so fine and thin. Here is a picture of her at 16 months from the front and back. Now I have Kelsey and I really worry. If Shelby has very little hair for a 4 year old what will Kelsey have at 4. People always comment on how well Kelsey does things, because everyone thinks she is younger than she is. I mean she is small and bald what do I expect! Here are pictures of her at 16 months.

Day 2

I awoke to my dog barking at 2:20 this morning. I could see orange out my window. I spent the day helping my neighbors I did not stick to the real food diet. It's been a really long day.

Day 1

Well as far as food is concerned today was an easy day.

For Breakfast, I had my morning smoothie in my vitamix. It is just fruits and veggies blended.

Lunch was funny it was a handful of nuts, a whole wheat roll with coconut oil, and two oranges blended with some ice in the vitamix.

Snack was popcorn with coconut oil.

Dinner was really good it was a crisped corn tortilla with refried black beans, cheese, salsa, tomato, lettuce, and avocado. I made the the beans myself and they were really good. It is my friend Heidi's recipe, she actually calls for pinto beans, but she told my black beans would work and they did.

The real problem today is the meat. It is so expensive there is no way I could buy it for my family on a regular basis. I bought some to get me through the ten days and tonight I didn't even have any. The rest of the family had left over chopped rotisserie chicken on their dinner.

10 Day Real Food Pleadge

I am taking the 10 Day Real Food Challenge. I am starting today and here are the rules. I have been thinking about doing this for the last few weeks and decided this was the day to start.

What you CAN eat:

  1. Whole foods that are more a product of nature than a product of industry
  2. Lots of fruits and vegetables(we recommend that you shop for these at your local farmers’ market)
  3. Dairy products like milk, unsweetened yogurt, eggs, and cheese
  4. 100% whole-wheat and whole-grains (find a local bakery for approved sandwich bread and check the Understanding Grains post for more info)
  5. Seafood (wild caught is the optimal choice over farm-raised)
  6. Only locally raised meats such as pork, beef, and chicken (preferably in moderation)
  7. Beverages limited to water, milk, all natural juices, naturally sweetened and things I don't drink anyhow :-)
  8. Snacks like dried fruit, seeds, nuts and popcorn
  9. All natural sweeteners including honey, 100% maple syrup, and fruit juice concentrates are acceptable in moderation
  10. Also check out the Recipes & Resources page for a more detailed list of meal options including links to recipes

What you CANNOT eat:

  1. No refined grains such as white flour or white rice (items containing wheat must say WHOLE wheat…not just “wheat”)
  2. No refined sweeteners such as sugar, any form of corn syrup, cane juice, or the artificial stuff like Splenda
  3. Nothing out of a box, can, bag, bottle or package that has more than 5 ingredients listed on the label
  4. No deep fried foods
  5. No “fast foods”
