Mitchell's Inquiry

At my boys school they do Inquiry projects several times a year. An inquiry project is very similar to a science project (yes, we have to do several a year!) The biggest difference is that it is truly more processed based than it is outcome based. If we find that the soil is exactly the same it's okay. Although it makes it tougher to write your 4-6 paragraph analysis (just less to talk about). We have an inquiry fair at the end of the year and the kids pick their favorite inquiry to share with the school. Anyhow, Mitchell has been working hard on one. He is testing soil at different elevations to find out if there are differences in nutrients. Here is a picture of him from the back of the Sandias with his baggie of soil. When we went on our Soil gathering trip we borrowed a GPS from a friend. We had a lot of fun and realized that we need a GPS (haha). Greg and I took turns driving and the person not driving just played around with the navigational system. So it was fun for everyone :-)
