Caramel Delights

Here is a new recipe we found that we really like. I hope you enjoy.

~ Leah

Caramel Delights
Preheat 350̊
Mix the following ingredients together.
1 ½ Cups Flour
1 ½ Cups old fashion oats
1/4 t salt
1 T baking soda
1 ½ Cups brown sugar
1 Cup melted butter
In a 9x13 pan place ½ of the above mixture and bake at 350̊ for 12 minutes.
While that is cooking melt 48 caramels with ½ cup of cream.
When you pull the pan out of the oven, sprinkle a 12 oz bag of milk chocolate chips over it. Then on top of that spread the caramel mixture, the layer the other half of the mixture and bake for another 15 minutes. Then bring Leah a piece.

I know I am probably not suppose to comment on my own posts. But we had a family over for the First Presidency Christmas Devotional yesterday and I made these. And well, they went home with a tummy ache (from eating to much) and the recipe in hand. Yes, they are that good.

I'm very, very eager to make this...just waiting for our next paycheck! When you say, "then layer the other half of the mixture", what other half am I layering? Chocolate chips, carmel, ...? Thanks!

At the top there is a list of ingredients to mix together, then it says to spread half of the mixture in the pan and bake. "Then layer the other half of the mixture" is talking about the other 1/2 of that top mixture. Does that make sense?? IF not let me know and I will try to reword.

Sorry, not trying to be dense...so your making a sandwich of the crust with a chocolate-carmel filling? No additional stuff on top of the second crust? Can't wait to try it. Thanks, Leah!

yes, allison, it is crust, chocolate chips, carmel, then crust. The recipe calls for Milk Chocolate Chips, I usually just use semi-sweet, because that is what we have on hand.

I wonder why this recipe did not show up on theactons.blogspot? I thought when you post to this one, it will automatically post to the other...or maybe I need to get in the habit of checking both? Please advise. -- Cheryl

I will post most stuff on both sites. I will post fluff on this site that I didn't post on the other. For instance, this recipe or the fact that there are four pictures on this site of Shelby playing peek a boo, where on the the other site there is only three pictures.

Okay, but we like the fluff on the family blog, too. Who doesn't like wonderful recipes? -- Cheryl
